Rest In Peace, Breeze

I am very sad to report that Dave "Cool Breeze" Brown passed away just after midnight early this morning, March 16. Dave was hospitalized after he collapsed at his home on Thursday, March 7. As soon as details are available regarding funeral and memorial arrangements, I will post an update. Dave was a well-loved and respected member of the blues community and will be sorely missed. — Jake Jacobson

Dave "Cool Breeze" Brown - 1954-2013

The memorial service for David "Cool Breeze" Brown was held this past Saturday at the Lakewood Cemetery Memorial Chapel in Minneapolis, MN. I believe Breeze would be well-pleased with the standing-room-only crowd of friends, family and fellow musicians who gathered to honor him. Breeze's longtime friend, Doug Hill, presided over the ceremony with remembrances from his brothers, Mike and Pat, sons, Dan and Lewis and friend Sue McLean. Music was provided by Mark Asche and Charmin Michelle. A gathering at the Artists' Quarter in St Paul, MN was held following the memorial. There is a strong possibility that a fund raising event in Breeze's memory will be held in the near future. — Jake Jacobson
