Born To Ramble - Javier & the Innocent Sons

Javier & the Innocent Sons
- Born To Ramble
Heading to 2016 "Best Self-Produced CD" Competition in Memphis

Javier & the Innocent Sons' CD, Born To Ramble was selected by a panel of judges to represent the Minnesota Blues Society in the 2016 International Blues Challenge "Best Self-Produced CD" Competition. The recording features Javier Matos on vocals, guitar and harmonica; Minnesota Blues Hall of Fame Award Winners, Dan Schwalbe and Bruce McCabe on guitar and keyboard, respectively; Grant Wibben on bass and veteran drummer, Dave Larson.

The CD is comprised of four original tunes by Javier Matos, one original tune by Dan Schwalbe and six classic or traditional blues tunes. Among the classic blues tunes is a moving rendition of Mercy Dee Walton's "One Room Country Shack" with a haunting vocal by Javier and a gobsmackingly stunning piece of guitar work by Dan Schwalbe. This CD, when in-stock, is also available on Amazon.

The other three entries in this years' competition were Brother Sun Sister Moon by Brother Sun Sister Moon (Dave Lambert & Donna Dahl), Release by Joey Flip & Aurora and Slidin' Sideways by Don Scott. As always, I was impressed with the quality of all of the entries in our Minnesota competition and hope that the musicians will be inspired to continue making wonderful music and to enter in future competitions. I would also like to thank all of the participating judges for their well-considered opinions regarding the works of these artists. We are accepting CDs for next years' "Best Self-Produced CD" competition from now until September 30, 2016. — Jake Jacobson
